A couple of weeks late we found this:
“Electronic music has come along in leaps and bounds in the past decade or so, with the Age of Love movement in the 90′s creating a new pathway to electro pop and euro pop. One area of the world that embraces electronica with open arms is Scandanavia, and in particular, Sweden. With iconic siblings Karin and Olof Dreijer creating the gargantuan force that is The Knife paving the way for modern electronica, it’s enthralling to see another electronic project come from the snowy depths of Sweden; Paarse Paraplu.
E.P Kaleidisco (very aptly named) has a nice, singular style regulating throughout the record, with an eccentric mix of both organic and mechanic instruments. On 80′s synth rock track ‘Universe’ we have a nice meaty guitar loop that circulates throughout the song with hard tuned vocals floating about in the typical electro rock way. Coming to the bridge we get a taste of some full on arpeggiated, depeche-esque chords. It’s like going to a disco in 80′s! Track ‘Shelly’ has disco punk drums with melodic handclaps bouncing on top of the guitar lick looping around, with talk of cherry pie coming into the fray a lot.
With this project, there is a clear objective; to make people dance, and it does to great affect. The vocals on this record are somewhat marmite, but I think they work with the clashy disco vibe that you get the tracks.”
